Hey there.
Today, for this FBL, I want to talk about a quote I was reading the other day from Ralph Waldo Emerson, and it says, “Fear defeats more people than any one thing in this world.”
I want to talk about that.
Because I want to talk about how fear hijacks the mind, fear takes us away from the present, and fear distorts our ability to even understand that we're in fear, or, more importantly, be able to assess how to get out of it, track our progress, or any of it.
And when you use the mind for any of this, it becomes the very thing, the very vehicle, that keeps you stuck.
So fear is a state of consciousness.
It is a field of energy that we all experience.
It's not a disease.
Fear is a very low and intense energy and emotion to feel.
And it exists in varying degrees, from all the way from a little, you know, nervous energy to a full-blown panic, derealization, depersonalization-type experience.
And fear is really the absence of the connection to love and peace and joy, right?
So, a lot of times, what happens is, or I should say, fear blocks our connection to that.
So fear is more the absence of the presence of that, because it blocks it.
And when we're in this state of fear, it creates these goggles and this lens in which we see the world through, and the mind projects the cause of the fear onto ideas.
So it says, “Well, the reason I'm afraid is this, this, this, this, this. What if this, this, this, this, this?” Right?
And then we go and follow that thought, and we try to resolve that thought in the name of getting rid of our fear, and overcoming our fear, and healing, and all of this other stuff, and working on ourselves, and all these things that the mind says.
And the problem is, because fear hijacks the mind, what it does is it completely removes us from being present in our life.
So we are with the people we love, and we're actually just sitting there ruminating in our mind, or just, you know, playing a scenario over, talking, you know, thinking about what we did and all this stuff.
And we're completely removed from life.
Because life just exists right now.
This is the reason fear defeats people: because it will convince you that it's helping you survive while, at the same time, preventing you from really living.
And the survival that it promises is always tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.
And you're always living for tomorrow, and you realize that you just missed today.
But if you do that in sequential order for a long enough time, you realize that it just removes you from presently experiencing your life.
And then, on top of that, what we do is we try to use the mind to track our progress.
And what fear will do is it will constantly distort your ability to track any progress and success, you know, or healing.
Because what we're really doing is not healing from fear. We're really reconnecting to peace.
That's what the pursuit that everyone is on really is, to summarize: you want to connect to the peace within you.
And that is— and fear will sometimes even convince you that you've done that.
While you're completely in a state of fear, it will completely deceive you.
It's very fascinating.
I mean, I will, like, talk to people that are in the midst of fear who will tell me that they're, you know, in a completely different state than what they really are, because the mind tries to make sense of things, and it can't.
You see, when you're really in a state of peace, your mind isn't even really going.
Because you are, and again, you're able to bring that peace into everything you're doing in the present moment.
So when we talk about what recovery is, recovery is not really a, “I have a disease and I'm recovering from it.”
Recovery is recovering our natural essence.
That of which we lost.
Right?
Think about it.
So think of recovery in that way.
I'm taking back what once was mine.
And...
That's what overcoming fear really is.
It's, “I'm recovering my peace.”
To take back.
And fear, not only is the obstacle to peace, but then it will do everything it can to distort any attempt that you have to do that.
So it will distort your progress.
It will say, “Oh, you see, you know, you're doing really, really well. You know, because look at this person over here, they're way worse than you, so you're doing better than that, so you must be doing well.”
Or if you are actually making progress, instantly enough, it will try to come and immediately discredit anything that you've done.
“You're not even making progress. You haven't even gotten better. See, look at this.”
And it will hijack the mind and totally disorient you on this path.
And this is why, you know, when Emerson says, like, “Fear is the one thing that takes more people out than anything in the world,” and, you know, why Roosevelt said, “The only thing to fear is fear itself,” is because you have to understand fear in an energetic form, in the state form, not in whatever you're projecting onto.
So once you realize that nothing outside of you causes fear, it doesn't mean that there's not dangerous things in this world.
What I'm saying is nothing outside of you causes fear, that you are really the cause of fear, that the fear within you is actually really driven from the amount of guilt one carries, you know, as a primary source.
And then you realize that overcoming fear is about learning how to confront and really transcend and release fear, which also is about learning to not only go through fear itself, but whatever's underneath that—the guilt, the personas, the beliefs—that drive the state, that hijack the nervous system, that hijack the mind, that take you out of your life.
And what recovery is about is about recovering the essence, the peace within you, that fear has blocked.
And so I wanted to share those thoughts today.
Hope this was helpful.
Again, if you guys haven't checked out our new assessment yet, and, you know, gotten the fear loop created so you can visualize and actually understand the path to overcoming this, there's a free assessment on our page—sorry, on our site. Link the page below.
It's now live, as well as our new app.
The Restored Minds app is now live, and we just did our first live training for the last month this past Monday, and it was great.
Thank you for all the amazing feedback for those that attended.
And it was all on resistance, and so the replay actually is available now.
And then this upcoming month, I'm going to be talking about harmful...
I'm gonna be doing a workshop on harmful, intrusive thoughts.
So, if you are a member of the app, you will get access.
And so, uh, so yeah, if we'll have the details in below.
But with that...
And then also, um, yeah, if you're interested in working with this on a deep, you know, a deep way where really integrating this and implementing this into your life, you know, we'll also have a place where you can apply to be a member of TBC or if you want to do one-on-one coaching with me, love to help you.
Because the reason I dedicate my life to this is because this is the obstacle that wipes most people out.
And it's something that can be transcended and overcome.
So, with that, hoping you all have a great weekend and a great day, and I look forward to talking to you soon.
