Matt's Message of the Week

Choosing the Hard Path

One of the simplest ways to understand this journey is this:

There is no easy path.

Living in the loop is hard.
Recovery is also hard.

And once you really accept that, the question becomes:

Which hard path are you going to choose?

The loop offers short-term relief.

You can ruminate, avoid, seek reassurance, or do compulsions — and it makes today feel a little easier.

But the cost shows up later.

More thoughts.
More intensity.
More time stuck in the loop.

That’s the hard part of that path.

With recovery, it’s the opposite.

Today is harder.

You have to face discomfort.
You have to do the work.

But over time, things begin to shift.

The loop loses its grip.
Fear starts to settle.
Life becomes easier.

So the choice you have each day is simple:

Short-term ease with long-term struggle…
or short-term discomfort with long-term freedom.

This Week in The Feel Better Letter 👇 ✅ Fear doesn't just create uncomfortable feelings—it hijacks the mind and makes it harder to accurately understand what you're experiencing or how to move through it.✅ When you're in fear, the mind projects a cause onto your experience, convincing you that this thought, this situation, or this possibility is what's creating the fear.✅ Fear can make you mis...

This Week in The Feel Better Letter 👇 ✅ Fear promises that if you solve, analyze, or control the problem now, you'll have a better tomorrow—but the price it asks you to pay is today.✅ The future fear keeps warning you about is largely an illusion; tomorrow never actually arrives because life is always happening in the present moment.✅ The more you ruminate, seek reassurance, fight thoughts, or...
